Help
- Two protections, which you can combine: an open password (without it the content is unreadable) and usage restrictions (printing, copying, editing).
- Only the open password truly encrypts the content. Restrictions are honoured by common PDF readers but can be bypassed: do not rely on them for a confidential document.
- The optional owner password lets you change the restrictions later; if left empty, a random one is chosen.
- Encryption is AES-256 (PDF 2.0 standard), computed on your device. The password is neither sent nor stored: if lost, it cannot be recovered.

Frequently asked questions
How strong is this protection?
AES-256 encryption is the current standard: as long as the open password is long and unpredictable, the content is unreadable without it. The strength meter helps you choose.
Can I forbid printing without an open password?
Yes: untick “Printing” and leave the open password empty. The PDF opens freely but well-behaved readers will block printing. It is a courtesy barrier, not security.
Are my PDF or password sent anywhere?
No. Encryption runs in your browser; neither the file nor the password leaves your device.
