Length Converter

Help: Length Converter

  • Type a value and pick the starting unit: all other units update live in the table, with your chosen target unit highlighted.
  • Factors are the exact definitions (1 inch = 25.4 mm, 1 mile = 1,609.344 m, 1 nautical mile = 1,852 m) and the maths is done in exact decimals, so no 0.1 + 0.2 style errors.
  • Set the precision (3 to 15 significant digits); huge or tiny values switch to scientific notation.
  • The decimal separator can be a comma or a dot, Arabic digits (٠-٩) are accepted, and the ± button lets you enter a negative value (altitude, depth).

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a statute mile and a nautical mile?

A statute mile is exactly 1,609.344 m; a nautical mile is exactly 1,852 m, one arc-minute of meridian. The tool lists them separately to avoid any mix-up.

Are the results rounded?

The calculation is exact; only the display is rounded to the number of significant digits you choose (8 by default). The copy button gives the value rounded to that precision.

Are my values sent anywhere?

No. The whole conversion runs in your browser, offline.
