Help
- Type 7:45, 7h45, 45 min or a decimal such as 7.75: the converter shows hours:minutes, decimal hours, minutes and seconds at once.
- The Add tab sums one duration per line, in any mix of formats, and gives the total in hours:minutes and decimal hours.
- The Timesheet tab takes start, end and break for each day. If the end is earlier than the start it counts a night shift past midnight.
- Everything is computed in whole seconds, so 0:10 added six times is exactly 1:00. Choose how many decimals to show.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert 7:45 to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60 and add the result to the hours: 45 ÷ 60 = 0.75, so 7:45 is 7.75 hours. The tool does it for you and shows the minutes and seconds as well.
How do I convert decimal hours back to minutes?
Multiply the decimal part by 60. For 7.75 hours, 0.75 × 60 = 45 minutes, so 7 hours 45 minutes. Choose Decimal hours as the input type to do it automatically.
Why are decimal hours used for payroll?
Rates are paid per hour, so multiplying is easier with a decimal such as 7.75 than with 7:45. Enter an hourly rate in the timesheet to see the estimated amount.
Does it handle shifts that cross midnight?
Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start, the tool adds 24 hours: 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours, minus any break.
