Help
- Enter the vehicle price, your down payment, the trade-in value of your old vehicle, the sales tax and the documentation fees: the tool deduces the amount actually financed.
- The "tax applies to price minus trade-in" box mirrors the rule used in some US states; unticked, the tax applies to the full price. Set 0% if your price already includes tax.
- The result shows the monthly payment, total interest, cash price and the full cost of the car (down payment + trade-in + every payment), plus a chart and the amortization schedule by year or by payment.
- Maths is done in whole cents with no rounding drift, and the last payment clears the principal exactly. The schedule can be printed or exported as CSV.
Frequently asked questions
Should the sales tax be part of the borrowed amount?
If the tax is financed with the vehicle, yes: the tool adds it to the price, then subtracts the down payment and trade-in to get the amount financed. If your price already includes tax, set the tax to 0%.
Why is the total cost higher than the sticker price?
It adds the price, tax, fees and all the interest. The longer the term, the more interest weighs: always compare the total cost, not only the monthly payment.
