Help
- Drop the original version (A) and the modified version (B). Text comparison reads the digital text of both files and shows removed words (red, left) and added words (green, right) side by side, with a button to jump from one difference to the next.
- Visual comparison overlays the page images and colours in red whatever changes on screen: text, image, layout. One button searches for the pages that differ in a single pass (the first 100). Both pages are scaled to the same size.
- Honest limits: a scanned PDF is made of images, so it has no text to compare; run it through “OCR PDF” first or use the visual comparison. Text comparison ignores layout, while visual comparison sees everything, even a one-pixel shift. 300 pages and 100 MB per document.
- A password-protected PDF is refused with a clear message: the tool never bypasses protection. Remove it first with “Unlock PDF” if you know the password.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between text and visual comparison?
The first compares words, ignoring layout: ideal for a contract or an article. The second compares the image of each page: it also sees a logo, a table or a shift, but it sometimes flags differences that do not matter.
Why does the tool say a document has no text?
Because it is most likely a scan: the pages are images with no text to read. Run the file through “OCR PDF” to get text, or use visual comparison, which also works on scans.
Are my documents sent anywhere?
No. Both PDFs are read and compared in your browser; nothing is uploaded, nothing is kept, and your files are not modified.
