Help
- Type a number (1234567.89): thousands and decimal separators (spaces, dots, commas) are understood, as are Arabic-Indic digits (١٢٣). The result appears in the chosen language, with up to 18 digits before the decimal point.
- French: “vingt et un”, “soixante et onze”, “quatre-vingts” (with an s only when nothing follows, or before million/milliard), “deux cent un”, invariable “mille”. Belgian and Swiss variants (septante, nonante, huitante) and the 1990 spelling with hyphens everywhere are offered.
- Arabic: the numeral agrees with the gender of the counted noun (ثلاثة / ثلاث) and with the case (اثنان / اثنين, عشرون / عشرين); thousands and millions take the dual, the plural or the accusative singular according to the number (ثلاثة آلاف، أحد عشر ألفًا).
- “Amount in words” mode agrees the unit (one dollar, two dollars, in Arabic دينار واحد / ديناران / ثلاثة دنانير) and adds the subunit; the currency is free: pick one from the list or type your own names. Beyond the subunit the amount is rounded.
- Check before using it in a legal document or a cheque: writing conventions can vary; always proofread the result.
Frequently asked questions
Why does “quatre-vingts” take an s in “quatre-vingts euros” but not in “quatre-vingt mille”?
Vingt and cent take the plural mark when multiplied and followed by no other number. Before “mille”, which is invariable, they stay singular; before “million” or “milliard”, which are nouns, they take the s.
How does Arabic choose the form of the numeral?
Numerals 3 to 10 take the form opposite to the gender of the counted noun, 11 to 99 are followed by the accusative singular (أحد عشر دينارًا), and 100 or more by the genitive singular (مئة دينار). The tool applies these rules to the chosen currency.
Can I write a currency that is not in the list?
Yes: choose “Other currency…” and type the singular and plural of the unit and subunit (for example “franc / francs” and “centime / centimes”).
