Help
- Click or tap the keys: the letter is inserted at the cursor position, or replaces the selection. Keys are at least 44 px so they are easy to tap with a thumb.
- Two layouts: “Standard (PC)”, the layout of Windows and Linux Arabic keyboards, with Shift for the upper layer, and “Alphabetical”, in alphabet order, handy for learners.
- With a physical Latin keyboard, leave “Type with my physical keyboard” on: the A key gives ش, Q gives ض, M gives ة, following the standard layout positions (Shift for the upper layer).
- The short vowels row inserts fatha, damma, kasra, shadda, sukun, tanwin and tatweel; Maghreb letters (ڨ ڤ پ گ), Persian and Urdu ones are under “Extra letters”. Digits can be typed as ٠-٩ or 0-9 with one button.
- Your text stays in your browser; copy it afterwards wherever you like.
Frequently asked questions
How do I type short vowels?
Place the cursor after the letter you want, then click the vowel in the “Short vowels” row: it attaches to the letter. On a physical keyboard, the vowels sit on the Shift layer from Q to A.
Is the text displayed right to left?
Yes. The direction adapts to what you write: Arabic text aligns right and can be mixed with French or English.
Why doesn't the phone keyboard appear?
So that it does not cover the on-screen Arabic keyboard, the system keyboard is hidden by default. Tick “Use the device keyboard” to bring it up.
