Passport Photo Maker

Help: Passport Photo Maker

  • Presets for the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark and Italy. Each one says whether its dimensions were read from the official source or are still “to verify”, with the date they were checked and a link to the source.
  • Switzerland, Norway, France and Sweden: no official dimensions could be found, so no preset is offered. Pick “Custom size” and enter the dimensions your authority gives.
  • The template shows the chin zone and head height taken from the country's rules. The crown and eye lines are indicative marks, not official rules. The tool does not detect the face: you place it yourself.
  • The background can be replaced with a plain colour, without artificial intelligence: it only works if the background is already almost plain (a light wall). Otherwise the photo is left unchanged and the tool tells you.
  • JPEG export at the exact size (300 or 600 dpi written into the file) and a 10 × 15 cm or 4 × 6 in sheet with as many photos as fit. Depending on the country, other rules apply: check with the issuing authority.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Cropping, background replacement and the print sheet all run in your browser; the photo never leaves your device and is not stored anywhere.

Are the dimensions official and guaranteed?

For the United Kingdom and Canada they were read directly from the authority's page. For the other countries they come from a summary of the source and are marked “to verify”. In every case the date they were checked is shown, and acceptance of your photo is never guaranteed: only the authority decides.

Why was the background not replaced?

The replacement uses no AI: it starts at the edges of the image and only takes pixels close to the background colour. If the background is a busy scene, has shadows or a strong gradient, the tool prefers to change nothing rather than damage the photo. Retake it in front of a plain wall.
